Professor Sir Geoff Hampton is Deputy
Vice Chancellor (Education Partnerships) and
Director of the Midlands Leadership Centre, at the
University of Wolverhampton.
Sir Geoff has recently been given the
task of leading the Black Country Challenge by the
DCSF, which involves driving this initiative on
behalf of 460 schools and four Local Authorities. In
this capacity Geoff acts as Chief Adviser to the
Minister for Schools. He has also been asked to
joinasm all pan el of "Expert Advisers " who will
oversee the Prime Minister's National Challenge
programme. The highly successful outcome of the
Walsall MBC Strategic Intervention Programme has
just been announced by Government Inspectors; Sir
Geoff led upon this five year programme on behalf of
the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. To mark the
new Millennium the Prime Minister hosted a series of
six lectures upon key topics at 10 Downing Street.
Professor Sir Geoff was given the honour of being
asked to present the Education Lecture to Mr and Mrs
Blair and their invited guests, choosing the topic
of " What Makes a Good School". He has
subsequently addressed international conferences
around the world and has acted as advisor to many
governments, amongst which are Jamaica, Chile and
New Zealand. He will opened an International
Leadership Symposium in Japan earlier this year
