Professor Mike Jenks
Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development,
Mike Jenks is Professor Emeritus, Department of Architecture at Oxford Brookes University, and the Founder Director of the Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development (OISD). He was the Principal Investigator and Founder of City Form: the Sustainable Urban form Consortium (see www.city-form.org). His research expertise relates to the compact city and sustainable urban form, and in particular research into the relationships between environmental, social and economic sustainability in an urban context. His books have included an influential trilogy about the sustainability of urban form: The Compact City: A sustainable urban Form? (1996); Achieving Sustainable Urban Form (2000); and, Compact Cities: sustainable urban forms for developing countries (2000). Other books include: Future Forms and Design for Sustainable Cities (2005) and World Cities and Urban Form (2008). His latest book is The Dimensions of the Sustainable City (2009)
