NOTES ON THE SOCIO-CULTURAL PARADIGM EMBEDDED IN
REGIONAL PLANNING & URBAN DESIGN OF EXISTING TOWNS
AND SETTLEMENTS THE
CASE OF MAJOR SCHEMES IN JORDAN
I am an architect, urban designer,
scholar and critic, founder and director of Lonaard
and Dar Mimar Group in London. I have participated,
as a lead designer, in the development of important
projects across the Gulf and the Middle East. For
the past 15 years. I have published over 120
articles on architectural theory/criticism and urban
design. My research interests include heritage
conservation and the study of complex buildings
within urban and regional contexts, the morphology
of urban space, design methodologies and
architectural criticism, and - on broader
theoretical and sociocultural dimensions -
architectural space, form and function within the
question of tradition, identity and globalization.
